Off Road Trail Spotlight: Logandale 13 Mile Loop - Mesquite – Nevada Trails
Avid off-roaders looking for new trails to explore outside Utah will certainly enjoy the Logandale Trail System. Located in Moapa Valley in Nevada, this 21,000-acre trail system offers visitors the chance to see incredible scenery, rare plants, and animals. This area is considered sacred to the Native Americans and you can see some of the petroglyphs left by the early inhabitants of the area.
This is one of our favorite trails to run as part of our regular trail ride events. We love that the trails are mildly challenging and also pack a punch in scenery and places of interest. Additionally, this trail system is easily accessible from St. George, making it perfect for those days we’d like nothing more than to spend some time relaxing and exploring in nature.
The main, and most popular trail, of the Logandale Trail System is the 13-Mile Loop.
The Logandale 13 Mile Loop
The Logandale 13-Mile Loop is an easy trail that gives visitors a great introduction to the Logandale Trail System. This trail loops around the trail system and most other trails branch off from it. It’s usually run counter-clockwise but you can go in any direction.
This trail is rated 4 because of a small rocky hill at the south end of the Loop. While it isn’t that challenging to traverse, those with stock 4WDs or inexperienced off-roaders will need a spotter to help them choose and stay on a good line up the hill. A modified rig with adequate ground clearance and large tires should have no problem.
The 13-Mile Loop trail surface is mostly bumpy dirt road with some sandy sections. As you drive along, the red rock sandstone formations provide some shade from the sun and you can spot and take photos of some of the arches you come across.
When you get to the east side of the trail, look out for petroglyphs on some of the rock surfaces. This is a popular attraction and while visitors are encouraged to take as many photos as they wish, touching the rock art is not allowed or recommended.
